Richard Vaughan - Owner / Auctioneer

Richard Vaughan grew up on a family cotton, peanut, cattle and timber farm. The Vaughan’s had strict family business morals and they believed that in order for things to be done right, you had to put your own touch on things to make it “just right.” Richard still runs the family farm and its day to day operations and still lives in the old N.C. homestead (circa 1780).

He became interested in auctions at an early age and purchased his first item, a brown axe, at a neighbor’s auction. He still has that axe today. His father introduced him to livestock, tobacco, land and estate auctions as Richard grew up. In 1970, after finishing his agricultural studies at N.C. State University, he returned home to continue farming. During this time, he also started an export business for cotton pickers and has exported them to seven different countries. He also continued to attend auctions and broadened his knowledge of the value farm equipment, timber and property. He acquired his auctioneer’s license in 1984. Over the years, many farmers, attorneys and bankers trust his opinions and appraisals and often call upon him for farm equipment, property and estate valuations.

Today, Rich and Rich Auctioneers is still thriving and growing and Richard continues to put his own touch on each and every business transaction to assure that things are done “just right.”

John Acai - Auctioneer/Field Representative

"Big John" grew up on a family farm that was a land grant from the King of England. He went to N.C. State and returned home in 1972. John grows hay and raises horses, his passion, and runs a shop. He has been an auctioneer since 1978. Everyone likes John's easy going ways and relies on his knowledge of how things work and whether it is old or not.

Alan Slade - Auctioneer/Agricultural & Industrial Specialist

Alan Slade has been an auctioneer since 1985. He has a Degree in Mechanical Drafting and has 3 patents to his name. He has been around auctions all of his life and has extensive knowledge of agricultural and industrial equipment. He has exported equipment to at least 10 different countries and has a life time of experience in multiple fields.

Harold Miller - Real Estate Broker (NCRLB #14999)

Harold specializes in mini farms, hunting, recreational, and commercial land. He has been a broker since 1976 and has experience in land development, farms and residential sales throughout North Carolina. Harold was named "Teacher of the Year" at Northampton High School and coordinator of the first electric car program in Northampton County in which he is the winner of several national events. There is a current hardback book which describes Harold's accomplishments. When you meet Harold you will find him to be a down to earth, easy going person and very knowledgeable in the real estate market.
